Director: Achille Mauri

Climbing as a tool for rediscovering a territory marked by war, Kosovo. A documentary by Achille Mauri and Marzio Nardi.
More than twenty years after the end of the conflict in the Balkans, Mauro Barisone, an Italian climber, returns to the places where he was the coordinator of one of the many humanitarian expeditions involved in the reconstruction of the city of Peja, in Kosovo. In that context, he explores the walls of the nearby Rugova Valley, bolting some climbing routes and involving local communities.
From here, the Ruga project begins: stimulated by Mauro's story, a small group of young athletes wants to rediscover those places that were the scene of clashes, but also of reconciliation, and through climbing bring new stimuli to revive the territory.
The documentary is a sober look at a country still marked by hardship, which sees in the untouched and wild nature an important element of rebirth.
RUGA was created with the support of La Sportiva, Ferrino, Itaca the Outdoor Community, Flathold.
Carie

Italy 2019 – 26 min / Original language: Italian
Documentary by: Achille Mauri e Marzio Nardi e Federico Ravassard
Director: Achille Mauri
Protagonists: Francesca Medici, Lorenzo Carasio, Luca Andreozzi, Luca Bana, Roberto Bombarda, Chiara Taponecco, Fausto Guadagni, Eros Tetti; and Marzio Nardi, creator of the project.
"CARIE" is a documentary film shot in the marble quarries of Carrara. It's a project that starts with climbing and extends to the relationship with a wounded territory, such as that of the Apuan Alps, mountains devastated by mining activity. From here arises the idea of Marzio, Achille, and Federico: not merely taking photographs but giving voice to a territory, a community. Above all, studying that relationship between mountain, verticality, and perseverance, which represent the soul of these places, somehow bringing us back to the essence of climbing. Thus, forgotten spaces become a stage for new actions, and climbing emerges as the only means of redevelopment that can restore dignity and charm to this place.
